Coaching

My Coaching Approach

As a coach, I help people identify and improve key areas of their lives with the goal of positively impacting their health, happiness, and overall sense of wellbeing. I provide guidance and support to my coaching clients, along with relevant information, tailored resources, proven tools & techniques, feedback, and personal insights. My focus is on health and life challenges in areas where I have expertise, knowledge, and deep understanding gained from significant training, work, and personal experience. If you’re interested in learning more, please schedule an initial consultation. We’ll start with an introductory conversation where you’ll do most of the talking while I listen. You’ll share your current situation, how you arrived here, aspects of your life that you’d most like to change, and anything else that’s important to review. If you decide to move forward after the first call, we'll begin our coaching sessions. We’ll start by identifying your priorities for change and initially focus on developing a short-term plan to address crucial "triage" areas that need urgent attention in critical aspects of your life and health - for instance, sleep and insomnia, brain and cognitive function, immune system, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, and stress management. From there, we’ll work together to develop a plan designed to help you achieve your specific goals for health and wellness, relationships, parenting, work, education, and career, and other important areas of life. As you implement your plan, I'll continue to provide coaching, support, and guidance as you make the decisions and take action to have a happier, healthier life overall. I’d welcome the opportunity to help you navigate your own journey and move forward in your life. Please reach out with any questions or for more information. And I’m always happy to connect so feel free to comment or say hi!

The Power of Coaching

When I think about coaching, I immediately think of sports. I've competed in many individual and team sports throughout my life, from ice hockey to swimming and everything in between.

I’ll never forget the amazing feeling of winning big games on championship teams with awesome teammates and phenomenal coaches.

The best coaches in sports partner with athletes to inspire them to leverage their strengths, make positive changes, and motivate individuals to work together as a team to achieve their goals - to win.

It's also been shown that personal coaching can help people thrive and succeed at the "game of life." As a coach, I work in partnership with my clients to support them as they focus on achieving goals that can change their lives for the better - and for good.

Why I became a coach

Serious. Severe. Debilitating. No cure. Life-threatening. No one wants to hear these descriptions of their health issues, but unfortunately, I’ve heard them all. As I coped with these massive challenges, I learned some valuable lessons about healing. One of the most important lessons emerged as I was trying to recover from severe cognitive impairments during cancer treatment. I’d been taught since childhood that if I was sick or injured, I just needed to go to the doctor. Then, they would figure out what was wrong and recommend treatments, surgery, or medications – which would “fix me” and make it better. However, for over two years, no doctor from my medical team of experts in oncology, neurology, and psychiatry from renowned Boston hospitals - was able to figure out how to heal my brain. And that’s when it hit me. Contrary to what I’d believed since childhood, I realized it wasn't only the doctor’s responsibility to help me heal – it was also mine. That’s when I shifted from being a passive, “innocent bystander” to an active participant in my own healthcare. At that point, I took what I’d learned from my prior experiences and created a program to guide me through any future health or life challenges. When I faced new challenges, it continued to help me feel better, move forward, and have a sense of wellbeing, no matter what. I decided to become a coach to share what I’ve learned along the way to help other people their own journeys.
